Act 5 Scene III

Location: A Churchyard with the Tomb of the Capulets

Time: Thursday Morning

Characters: Paris, Romeo, Balthasar, Friar Lawernce, Juliet, Captain of the watch, Second Watchmen, Prince, Capulet, Lady Capulet, Montague

Events: Paris arrives at the Tomb of the Capulets to grief about Juliet’s death. Paris encounters Romeo and thinks that Romeos is going to further damage the dead bodies so he steps in front of Romeo to stop him. Romeo appeals to Paris but Paris rejects him and they fight. Paris falls and dies. Romeo lies Paris in a tomb. and goes up to Juliet’s tomb and drinks the vile and dies. “Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss, I die” Friar Lawernce appears at the Tomb and sees Balthasar and asks “Who’s there?” Balthasar replies saying he is a friend then he tells Friar Lawernce that Romeo is in there and that he has been in there for an hour and a half. Friar Lawernce enters the tomb and finds Romeos dead body. Juliet awakes and asks where is her Husband. Friar Lawernce delivers the new that Romeo is dead, Friar Lawernce hears a noise and says that they must leave now. Juliet disagrees and refuses to leave. Friar Lawernce exits. Juliet finds Romeo’s body and is annoyed that Romeo didn’t leave any of the poison for her. Juliet then grabs the dagger from Romeo and stabs herself in sorrow. The Capulets and Montague appear and agree on a truce and agree to build a statue of Romeo and Juliet together. The Prince comes and tells the family about what they have caused because of their feud. “For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo”.
