Act 3 Scene I

Location: A Public Place

Time: Monday Afternoon

Characters: Benvolio, Mercutio, Tybalt, Romeo, Prince, Lady Capulet, Officer, Montague

Events: Mercutio and Benvolio discuss the challenge Tybalt issued Romeo. Tybalt comes and greets Mercutio. Mercutio and Tybalt insult each other and that leads Mercutio to issue a fight between them. Benvolio suggests fighting in a private area. Romeo enters and Tybalt is ready to fight him but Romeo disagrees because he loves him. Mercutio can’t be bothered waiting so starts to engage a fight with Tybalt. Mercutio and Tybalt fight but in the middle of the fight Romeo came in and tried to stop it but Tybalt lunged forward and stabbed Mercutio, Killing him. Mercutio curses a plague on both houses. Romeo is enraged and so he kills Tybalt. Romeo then Shouts out “I am fortunes fool” referring that to that his luck changes from good to bad. for example, him getting married to than him killing Tybalt. and that he is a fool and he follows the way luck takes him. At the end of this scene, Romeo is banished from Verona by the Prince.
