Characters: Mercutio, Benvolio, Romeo, Peter, Nurse
Events: Benvolio and Mercutio wonder where Romeo was last night and that he probably didn’t go home. Tybalt issues a challenge to Romeo but Mercutio thinks that Romeo will fail because he is more focused on Rosaline and because that Tybalt is a feared swordsman. Romeo appears and greets Benvolio and Mercutio. Mercutio and Romeo have some Banter they insult each other about using prostitutes and their sexuality. Then Romeo sees the nurse coming towards him “Here’s goodly gear A sail, a sail!” which means that Romeo feels that the nurse was coming at him like a ship. The Nurse and Romeo discuss Romeo’s marriage with Juliet. Romeo Tells the nurse to tell Juliet to come to Friar Lawrence cell to get engaged.
